How EV Charger Installation Works

From your first call to driving with a full battery — here's what to expect when you hire MRK Electric.

1

Panel Assessment

We evaluate your electrical panel to confirm it can support a dedicated 240V / 50A circuit. If an upgrade is needed, we'll let you know upfront.

2

Charger & Location Planning

We help you choose the right charger and optimal mounting location — garage wall, exterior, or carport — for clean, code-compliant routing.

3

Permit Application

We pull the required electrical permit from your local jurisdiction before any work begins.

4

Dedicated Circuit Installation

A dedicated 240V circuit is run from your panel using proper gauge wire in conduit, with a correctly sized breaker.

5

Charger Mounting & Wiring

Your EV charger is mounted securely and connected to the dedicated circuit. We test for proper voltage and ground integrity.

6

Inspection & Handoff

We coordinate the final inspection with the county, walk you through the charger operation, and ensure everything passes.

EV Charger Installation FAQ

Level 1 uses a standard 120V outlet and charges about 3–5 miles of range per hour — practical for PHEVs but slow for full EVs. Level 2 uses a dedicated 240V circuit and charges 20–30 miles per hour, fully topping most EVs overnight. We install Level 2 chargers for maximum convenience.
Not always. Most homes with a 200-amp panel have capacity for a 40–50 amp EV circuit. Older homes with 100-amp panels may need an upgrade. We assess your panel during the initial call and will tell you exactly what's needed before any work begins.
We install all major brands: Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint Home Flex, JuiceBox, Enel X JuiceBox, Grizzl-E, Emporia, and others. If your EV manufacturer recommends a specific unit, we can install it.
Yes. Any new dedicated 240V circuit requires an electrical permit in Washington State. We handle the permit application and coordinate the final inspection — you don't need to deal with the city or county directly.
Most installations take 2–4 hours depending on the distance from your panel to the mounting location and whether conduit routing is needed. In most cases we complete it in a single visit.
Absolutely. We install EV chargers in garages, carports, and fully exposed outdoor locations. Outdoor installations use weatherproof-rated chargers and properly protected conduit runs.
