Every Type of Electric Fireplace

Greg Dixon has wired every type of electric fireplace installation — from simple wall-mount units to built-in fireplaces with 240V circuits. Whether you're updating a living room or completing a new build, we handle the electrical side with precision and care.

Wall-Mount Electric Fireplaces

Most wall-mount units run on 120V and require a dedicated 15–20 amp circuit. We can run in-wall wiring for a completely cord-free finish.

Fireplace Inserts

Electric inserts fit into existing fireplace openings. We run the dedicated circuit and install an outlet inside the firebox for a clean look.

Built-In & Linear Fireplaces

High-output built-in models often require 240V circuits. We handle the full electrical installation for both the fireplace and any media wall components.

Freestanding Units

Freestanding electric stoves and fireplaces typically need a dedicated outlet in a specific location. We place it exactly where it needs to be.

Electric Fireplace Installation — What to Expect

We make the electrical work invisible so your fireplace looks like it was always there.

1

Review Fireplace Specs

We review your specific model's electrical requirements — voltage, amperage, and outlet placement — before any work begins.

2

Plan Wiring Route

We plan the cleanest possible route for running power to the fireplace — through walls, behind drywall, or through conduit.

3

Permit Application

Fireplace installations requiring dedicated circuits need permits in most Washington jurisdictions. We handle this for you.

4

Dedicated Circuit Run

Wire is run from your panel to the fireplace location. For wall-mount units, we fish wire through the wall for a cord-free installation.

5

Outlet Installation

A properly rated outlet or junction box is installed in the right location — behind the fireplace, inside the firebox, or recessed in the wall.

6

Test & Verify

Circuit tested for proper voltage. Fireplace powered on and confirmed working before we clean up and leave.

Electric Fireplace FAQ

Any electric fireplace drawing more than 12 amps continuously requires a dedicated circuit by NEC code. Most higher-output electric fireplaces (1,500 watts or more) draw 12.5 amps at 120V — right at or over the threshold. A dedicated circuit is the safe, code-compliant approach for any fireplace.
Absolutely. For wall-mount fireplaces, we fish the wiring through the wall and install the outlet directly behind the unit — completely cord-free. This is our most popular approach and it looks like a factory installation.
In most Washington jurisdictions, new dedicated circuit installations — including for electric fireplaces — require a permit. We handle the permit application and schedule the inspection so you don't have to.
120V fireplaces use a standard outlet and provide up to 1,500 watts of heat — suitable for supplemental zone heating in smaller rooms. 240V fireplaces deliver up to 5,000 watts and provide more substantial heating for larger spaces. We install both types.
